Skinny Jeans

I didn't jump on the skinny jeans band wagon until early this year (when two of my sisters showed me the light) and now I adore them. I only had 1 pair and realized I needed wanted another... and most of the skinny jeans I found in the stores (that were cheap enough that I would consider buying them) are too... well... skinny. I don't like the look of painted on skinny jeans (or the kind that create a muffin top or draws too much unwanted attention to my birthing hips). To solve my predicament,  I went to the thrift store and found a pair of jeans that fit perfectly up top, took them home, washed 'em, and turned them into skinny jeans.

Before.

During (I used my other pair as a guide).

After.

I love the way they turned out. Skinny but not too skinny. And if I decide later that I want to make them even skinnier, I can! Win-win-win.  (Oh, and I'll try and wear makeup next time I show my face around here... but no promises.)

  3. They can be flattering (if they fit right) and they make me feel cute and... skinny... :)
Also, my husband likes them (which is always a plus).

  4. I'm a Mom of three teen daughters. I've wanted to try this, since they have plenty of jeans that they won't wear anymore because of the wide legs. Thanks for the motivation to give converting them a try!

  5. This is perfect. Skinny jeans in the stores are waaaaay to skinny for my taste, but I like being able to control the skinniness....

  6. I tried on a pair once but I wasn't sure what kind of shirt to wear with it...so uh, my butt didn't look to big...

you did a great job altering...I am so scared to alter things, don't know why. I am currently trying to recover a rather pink car seat cover into something more suitable for a boy. hmmm. Scary.

  7. Anne: altering can be a little intimidating... which is why I tend to only alter things that I don't wear anyway. That way, if I mess up it doesn't really matter.

  8. Birthing hips, my butt! HaHaHa! You're adorable. :) I do love me some skinny jeans as well, but I may have to try this because it's really hard to find a pair that fits perfectly EVERYWHERE.
